El Abajeño en Tlaquepaque, Jalisco

             This restaurant is a classic.

It's localted in Tlaquepaque a very cultural-rich town of Mexico, the area is extremely nice to stroll around window shopping (or if you have a very thick wallet or bank account, do actual shopping of the amazing arts and crafts of the area).

El Abajeño is devoted to turists, but is not your usual tourist trap, the prices are not the cheapest around, but are not prohibitive, and also you see a lots of locals enjoying the food here, not just tour buses hoards.  Yes, there is the typical mariachi band playing and charging a hefty price per song, but the food is reasonably priced and the quality is very high.

The restaurant operates in an old hacienda with an open patio with some huge trees that makes the stay much more pleasant.

Highly recommended.
